Islamic Center of Aubrey offers Nikah Service for Muslims to get married at ICA.
Nikah
A Nikah is the Islamic marriage contract—a solemn and sacred social and legal agreement between a man and a woman to live together as husband and wife. It is a central part of Muslim marriage and has both religious and legal significance in Islam.
Key Elements
Mutual Consent
Both the bride and groom must freely and willingly consent to the marriage. Forced marriages are not valid in Islam.
Mahr (Dowry)
The groom gives a mahr, or obligatory gift, to the bride. This can be money, property, or anything agreed upon, and it becomes the bride's exclusive property.
Witnesses
The marriage contract must be witnessed by at least two adult Muslim witnesses, typically men. Their presence ensures that the marriage is public and official.
Offer and Acceptance (Ijab and Qubool)
This is the formal proposal and acceptance during the Nikah ceremony. It is usually conducted in the presence of an imam or Islamic scholar.
Khutbah (Sermon)
Often, a short sermon is delivered during the ceremony, highlighting the significance of marriage in Islam and the rights and responsibilities of both spouses.
