Islamic Center of Aubrey (ICA) Membership Terms & Conditions

1. Purpose of Membership

By becoming a member of the Islamic Center of Aubrey (ICA), you are affirming your support for ICA’s mission to establish a masjid rooted in Qur’an, Sunnah, community service, and Islamic values.

Membership grants participation in the governance of ICA through elections and general body meetings, consistent with ICA bylaws.

 

2. Eligibility Requirements

To be a Regular Member, the applicant must:

      • Be a Muslim who affirms the Shahāda.
      • Reside within the ICA-approved ZIP code areas:
        76227, 76259, 76266, 75068, 76262, 75033, 75034, 75035, 75036, 75078, 75072, 75071, 75009, 76258
      • Be at least 18 years of age.
      • Agree to abide by ICA’s mission, policies, and Islamic code of conduct.

3. Good Standing

A member is considered in good standing if:

      • Their membership information is accurate and up to date
      • Annual dues are paid (or an approved hardship waiver is in place)
      • They continue to reside within an eligible ZIP code
      • They comply with ICA’s code of conduct and Islamic ethics.

4. Membership Dues

      • Annual dues are $50 per member, unless a hardship waiver is requested and approved.
      • Dues are collected once per year and are non-refundable.
      • Members requesting a hardship waiver should contact the Social Services Committee at [email protected]. Waiver requests will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
      • Failure to renew may result in temporary suspension until renewal is completed.

5. Voting Rights

Members in good standing may vote in ICA elections according to ICA’s bylaws and election procedures.

Each eligible member receives one vote. Proxy voting is not permitted.

 

6. Code of Conduct

All members are expected to:

      • Uphold Islamic manners and adab in all interactions
      • Maintain respect for the Imam, trustees, volunteers, and other members
      • Avoid conduct that causes division, slander, or disruption of community harmony
      • Follow facility rules and committee guidance during events or programs
      • Not solicit funds on ICA premises or through ICA channels for personal or outside causes without prior approval from the Board or Imam.

7. Misconduct & Discipline

Membership may be suspended or revoked by the Board of Trustees if:

      • The member engages in behavior that harms ICA’s mission, reputation, unity, or operations
      • There is harassment, slander, or violation of Islamic etiquette toward leaders or community members
      • False information is provided during registration.

A reinstatement request may be submitted after a waiting period, in accordance with ICA bylaws.

 

8. Change of Residency

If a member permanently moves outside ICA’s approved membership ZIP code area, their regular membership may be reclassified or discontinued in accordance with ICA policy.

 

9. Privacy Statement

ICA will keep membership information confidential and will not sell, distribute, or disclose personal data except when required for legal or compliance purposes.

 

10. Acknowledgment

By submitting the membership form, you affirm that:

✓ You meet ICA’s eligibility criteria
✓ You agree to comply with the above terms & conditions
✓ You understand that membership is a trust (amānah) and a responsibility

 

Membership is a privilege and may be reviewed or revoked if eligibility requirements are no longer met.
